Verse of the Day (VOTD) Image Not Saving to SD Card

My Android (LG G4) phone just updated to Marshmallow and now, when I attempt to save the image associated with the verse of the day (VOTD), the app says "Could not save to SD card.". I have been doing this same task daily for at least a year or two. All of the sudden, I cannot.

App version is brand new. I even tried force stop and restart and then finally uninstalled and re-installed. Both of these attempts to fix the issue resulted in no change at all.

What is different in Android 6.0/Marshmallow that is causing this failure?
