Reading a Book in a Different Language

I have the book "The Whole Works of the Most Rev. James Ussher, D.D., Vol. 5" in my Library in Logos. The problem is it is in a language I don't know, Latin or something. Is there a feature in Logos 6 that will translate it into English so I can read it?

What you could do is find a english Version online and make a Personal Book...I dit'nt find Volume 5 in English, sorry

Logos does not include translation capability. If you purchased the product without realizing that so much of it is in Latin, you may be able to return it. If you want to do that, contact customer service (phone or chat).

There are a number of resources that are offered in sets like this set that have volumes in the set that are written in other languages. I have especially noticed this in Community Pricing which is where this set was first offered. This one is Latin but there have been others in German and other languages. If you would prefer not to see it in your library you can simply hide it or just leave it there an ignore it.

I know that there are programs available that do a basic translation of text like Google Translate on the web but I'm not familiar enough with them to make a specific recommendation. If anyone has a specific ecommendation I'd like to hear about it.

Sorry, no. As Bruce suggests, google translate is simple and easy to use... but not in this context. Your best bet would be to find an english translation of the work.

Thanks for all the replies. I called Logos and talked to Evan. He said that I had the whole set of the Ussher books and that what I could do is look at the different books in the set. Some of the books are in English and Evan suggested that I read the books that are in English. That's what I plan to do. Thanks for all the kind comments on this dilemma.

If you are interested in doing this and don't have it already, there is a free Latin dictionary here:

The other option, if you own a kindle, is to export the book to it (using the resource information panel). Kindle has great translational functionalities. You can download dictionaries for just about any language, and then just point to words for instant translation. The translational panel on the kindle even connects with Google translate and can be useful to translate shorter phrases or sentences.
