I've noticed a missing introduction, different anbreviations for Bible books, and some minor differences in layout. Apart from that, the two resources seem identical...
I looked up "punishments" in factbook and topic guide, considering that both works have the identical headword "punishment of the wicked, the". The 2001 edition shows in the results, the older edition does not.
The older edition has three sections taken out of the newer edition: "Methods of Bible Study," "Summary of the Outline of Doctrines," and "Outline of the Fundamental Doctrines of the Bible" (the latter by David Allen Reed). Such materials are better covered in some other resources but may still be found useful by some users. The older edition footnotes are also searchable, but this is useless as there are only two footnotes in the whole work (in the methods of Bible study).
Oddly, the older edition has a nice cover whereas the newer edition (which is otherwise much more nicely formatted) has a black and white old type ugly cover.
Lastly, the newer edition is published by Faithlife whereas the older edition was by Fleming Revell.
Overall, it is difficult to see justification for the existence of the two resources. It would be better to add to the new edition the sections that were removed (for those who would want them) and a nicer cover and deprecate the older edition, especially as both are offered as part of starter base package, thus giving the impression of getting two resources when it is really not quite that.
The "new" edition has a publication date of 1995, the "old" version has 2012. That would explain the 90s style ugly cover...
I'm now realizing that I got both resources from the Starter package, whereas before I thought that the old one was from Nelson eBible. :-( Ah, well...
The choice comes down to:
Green cover: More indexes and search fields
White cover: Better format, shows up in Factbook
But remember that the only difference there is footnotes search and as I indicated previously there are only two footnotes in the whole work. So, this additional index is not really much of an asset. White is the plain better one.
I agree 100%. I just think it is an odd situation that the version apparently favored by both users (including myself!) and Faithlife has fewer search fields and indexes. I don't think many people are citing the work in research papers, but lacking something as simple as a page index is what I would expect in a Vyrso title, not a Logos one.

I'm sorry to say that you'll need to adjust your expectations - many of the earlier Logos resources lack page numbers as do some current releases where the source (electronic or paper) dod not provide them.
Do you have a guess as to why two editions are being sold?
I'm sorry to say that you'll need to adjust your expectations
I don't think it would be worth Faithlife's time/resources/money to add page numbers at this point, and that wasn't really what I was advocating for. I just did a comparison of the capabilities/features of the two versions after seeing this thread and think it is an odd situation that is counter to what I would have expected.
