Passage guide in dual window

When  doing a split screen and opening to get the passage guide I used to be able to click on a link and it would open the link in that window.  Now the new passage guide opens in another window. This isn't helpful when trying to study the Bible and the notes replace the Bible. Is there any way to change the passage guide back to the way that it used to be (opening in window that is being used) ? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
