Yes I know its in Private Beta.. :-) Its a secret :-P
This has only been tested in B11 of 4.0b, on 23 Feb 2010, until I test thoroughly in morning don't want to share it publically..
I have been playing around, today, imagining what if the "cloud" evaporated and like questions, and how we could use our software still...
My Research has proved interesting... and makes me less paranoid..
Before the reinstalled, I :
A) exported my Logos4 registry tree in HKCU
backed up the L4 prerequisites installer [EDIT: if custom install]
CI backed up my whole L4 directory
I reinstalled Vista Home Premium x64, this evening with SP2 and all the updates.
Disconnected Internet
Then I:
1) Copied L4 folder back to same place.
2) Ran Prerequisites
3) Imported the Registry Key.
I expected L4 to scream at me, and refuse to open...
amazingly it does, and doesn't bring up the work offline screen as I expected... but just starts the program, no homepage obviously.and seems at first glance happy, however, as its 12:30am here I need to sleep... the Logs look good, just a WARN about a password not able to be used for something.
Should I remember after I have given it a workout in morning, will post full log.

Dominic you have way too much time on your hands, but it's good to know that something like that is possible

What is the L4 Prerequisites Installer and why did you have to back it up separately (it's in a subdirectory within Logos4, I see)? This was the first time I've ever heard of it. I see others have mentioned it on the Forum, but nobody seems to say what it is. Is it something that comes with the DVD installation only? I've always installed directly from the web, and usually via the beta channel only, so maybe Prerequisites gets run automatically for me, though I've never seen anything that said "Prerequisites" installation was running. Not that I'm missing it. I seem to have all the prerequisites I need in order to run L4 successfully, if that's what this is for.

TBH am not sure what "Logos4Prerequisites.msi" is exactly, I can tell you its not ".net 3.5sp1", I could speculate its extra fonts and dlls... but wont claim to know, however, I can tell you that there are more errors in the log if you dont run it, but L4 still opens.
I had to back it up because my install is custom and not on C: so its not there.. if iike me, you do a custom install, you wont find them in the install folder, they are still left in "C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Install", so wiping syslem loses it.
if standard install and in your directory you will not need to back it up seperately.. but would advise running it on reinstall

ok, logs identical to normal on my laptop except 2 references
Warn UserManager Couldn't unprotect user's password: Key not valid for use in specified state.
So apart from that, everything else seems to be happy.
BWS ran fine, notes added, searches ran fine...
I'm not gonna post in general tho...7331.Logos4.zip
