Dictionary of Jesus & The Gospels - 1st edition

i think I'm probably just being optimistic, but is there a way of getting the first edition at a discount, given that I own the 2nd edition (and the rest of the IVP Dictionary collection)?

I've come across a few cross-references that link to the first edition. It's not exactly difficult to open the 2nd edition and find the article, but working links are preferable if it's not too costly.

Aye, it does make sense. I just hoped it might have been included in a bundle with the rest of the dictionary set or something. Ah well.

I've had horrible luck with email (last Dec/Jan) and missed out on the 15% package sale as a result...i was hoping it was an anomaly. i'd suggest calling them. sorry you got no reply. I'm pretty sure they want to help a dude out with a sale! [;)]

Sorry, that was me being unclear. They replied, politely confirming that there was no discount. They were pretty quick in getting back and totally decent about it. I'd prefer not to phone, as I find verbal sales conversations really awkward (prefer email or chat as it gives me more time to think and I'm less likely to make a regrett decision).

I want to pour a bucket of ice water on this idea - despite the fact I support the idea for other reasons. When a footnote links to an edition other than the one referenced by the original work, it becomes worthless for serious scholarship. One would have to constantly check the original version before one could use the reference. And the new reference might not support/be related to the original link. A huge warning sign should be used any time a reference is to a particular version and that is not the linked version.

I am out of votes (= I've used all my luck). But I support this idea anyway.

When it is user selectable and includes moderate warnings, should be ok, particularly with dictionaries (BDAG, BAGD for example).
