Logos shuts down while I'm editing a note on my tablet.

On multiple occasions now, Logos has shut down while I've been in the middle of editing a note that is attached to a specific reference.  The way I usually operate is to use the speech to text feature that comes with the keyboard (I'm using the Swype keyboard) and then go back and edit the note.  Far too often I will be in the middle of editing the note and Logos will simply shut down.  And then I lose everything I put in the note and have to restart the program .

Please update to version 5.1.3 and see if it resolved the issue.

Just checked and version 5.1.3 is the version I'm working with.

We released a new version of 5.1.3 today, build 031 (the previous was build 028).

Can you please update again and see if the issue is resolved?

I checked Google Play and it indicated that the app was up to date.  I have it set for automatic update, so perhaps it already updated.  It hasn't crashed on me lately, so time will tell.  I figure if I can go two weeks without crashing, then the problem is likely solved.

Two things to note:  First, I use the Swype keyboard for editing my posts.  I switched to Swype so that I could use the Dragon speech--text feature.  It's a lot better than the stock keyboard that comes with Android.  Second, the errors always occurred while I was editing a note after having dictated it.

I went for a number of months without this happening so I was hoping that Kevin's solution had solved the problem. However, in the last month I've been having this crash thing happen rather frequently again.  This morning I lost some very significant data because of this bug.   I am currently using version 5.6.2 and will check for updates when I'm done with this post.  I wish I could give a more detailed description of what is happening, but I can't pin it down beyond the fact that while I am editing it often crashes, wiping out my data.  I sure hope we can find a solution!

Is this the right place to be posting this?  Should I be placing it in a forum that is focused on bugs?

This is the correct forum to post to although with older threads like this one we prefer a new post.

Do you know which app version you were using when this started happening again?

    John,

As a potential workaround please try the Google Keyboard - it supports dictation.

I suppose I could go back to that for awhile.  I was using it when I first started doing my notes by dictation, but Googles speech recognition app is considerably less than good.  Swype is better.  What are you thinking?  That Swype is the cause of the problem?

To answer your earlier post -- I think I was using the 1.5.3 version you mentioned when this all started.

Am I the only one having this problem?  I suppose using dictation to take my notes is unusual.  I have been wondering if the problem lies with my tablet rather than with Logos.  It has been running very slow lately and I've been considering doing a full reset with it.  Still, this usually happens during my morning Bible time when Logos is the only app running, so there should be plenty of resources available.  My son (a computer geek for a local community college) says it's running slow because app developers are using Java Script more and more in their apps.  Is the Logos app based on Java Script?  I suppose that could be part of the problem.0

I don't know. We don't have the bandwidth to test every interoperability scenario with other apps, and don't use Swype and Dragon in-house.

You said things were working fine for months - do you know which app version you were using when the problem resurfaced?

I am unaware of anyone else on Android using dictation for creating/editing notes. We don't use JavaScript in our Android apps. The main thing we'd like to know is which version of our app you were using when the issue started happening again.
