This might be a stupid question about layouts

I have a set layout that I want to use every time I search from the home page. I saved it under "Layouts," but when I did, it was after I had searched a passage. Now, when I search from the home page, it gives me a different layout, and when I load the saved layout, it pulls up it up with the old text.

How do I set up a layout so that whenever I search from the home page, that is the layout that pulls up?

First you need Logos Now for it

Than create a Layout and save as personal search Layout. Than any Time it opend when you go over Homepage.

If you don't have Now you could do

1. Create a Layout for Search and leave the Searchfield empty. Place your Layout in the Shortcut Bar.

2. If you like to run a search klick on the Icon on the Shortcut Bar and after finished don't update active Layout. So any Time you click it will open your empty Layout.

Just a little more detail (if you have Logos Now):

Create the layout from the default Search (or from scratch), click the Layouts button, go to "Home page layouts" and hover the mouse over the appropriate type of search, then click the down arrow and select “Replace with current layout”. From this menu you can also restore the default layouts.
