First, I would like to say that I am very excited that Logos is starting to develop on mobile devices. It has been great to be able to take books on the road and this has already enhanced my ability to utilize my Logos library since I am often away from my computer for extended time (weeks at a time).
I have been using Logos on my iPod Touch quite extensively and feel the following changes are very important to make it useful.
All of these suggestions are for when Logos is used in Offline mode, since that is how I use it 99% of the time.
VERY IMPORTANT
1. Save last place in books
Currently, Logos does not save the last place in books. This makes the application almost useless for regular use. I have to be very careful to never change books. This includes not using it for looking up a Bible reference etc. If I ever change books, the book I was reading is reset to the cover page and I have to find my location again. This makes Logos almost useless as a book reader and completely useful for looking up cross-references, etc.
IMPORTANT
2. Do not auto-rotate (some other apps have the option to turn off Auto-rotate. This feature needs added to Logos.)
I like to read in bed, etc. If my iPod is tilted, it rotates the screen. This has several problems: 1. I always have to be sitting upright to read and make sure to never tilt the iPod. 2. When it rotates and then rotates back it often loses its location and I have to jump forward a few screens. 3. If it rotates and then rotates back quickly (within 2 seconds), the right edge is often off the screen.
3. Search Library for a book
If I am in the Library and search for a book, the search feature does nothing. In order to find a book, I need to go through all the off-line books in my library to find the book I am looking for (which is quite a few since I loaded most of them for offline use).
The above would make Logos much more useful simply as a book/Bible reader. However, to make it useful as a Bible application, one more is needed:
4. Search Bible text
This does not have to allow complex searches across multiple Bibles. Just a simply surface level search will suffice. Even my Bible software for my Palm Pilot from many years ago allows me to search the open Bible. Without this, Logos is not useful as anything beyond a book reader (and even that is lacking without, some of the changes mentioned above).
Logos does have a nice look and feel and I am very grateful, but at the same time, these changes would make it MUCH more useful both as a book reader and Bible program.
