cat v. eat

I know "dog" is the Bible.  Was wondering about "cat".  Did a Bible Search and came up with something interesting.  "Cat" does not appear in the "normal" English Bible.  It does appear in the Apocrypha.  If you do the search, you'll notice also that there are several verse hits from the Bible, but in each case, the actual word should be "eat" not "cat". Specifically: Prov 23:1 and 25:27 in "An Attempt towards an improved translation of the Proverbs of Solomon" and Matt 6:31, Mark 11:14, Luke 6:1,Rom 14:3, and Rev 2:20 in "The New Covenant, Commonly called the New Testament: Translated from the Greek". I dismissed all the several references in "The Message" as it is only a paraphrase.

Granted, the two works cited are not common Bible translations.  However, it still begs the question on how "cat" and "eat" are being confused. Any ideas?

Sounds like the ancient translator's scanner?   Though lions were common in Isreael.

I should have thought of that.  I've noticed numerous errors in scanned documents (in other software, of course!).

Also, yes, lions are cats. I had forgotten that as well. I was thinking more of the domesticated pussy cat variety though.

Search for Lion returns lots of results.
