Simple Improvements to Resource-Specific Notes

Christ is in our midst!

It's absolutely wonderful that Logos can now be configured to create note files for each specific resource rather than only the standard Solid Colors, Highlighter Pens, etc. note files. With this functionality, it would be wonderful if there was a button or palette that could be activated to easily show the note file for the active resource.

Now, if I have the resource Greek Fathers opened, I can highlight passages and then find the note file through the Documents drop box. It's easy enough, but what if there was a button or palette on the toolbar or information section that alerted me to the note file for this resource and showed me all of the notes with one click? It would behave quite similarly to the annotations view in Adobe Acrobat or Apple Preview, which allow one-click access to all of the annotations for that specific document.

Even better, it would be nice to have an easy way to find all annotations, notes, and clippings from that resource in any document with one click.

Some of what you want is available under the Visual Filters menu. The section labeled "Notes and Highlights" shows only those Note files which have a note in this resource.

Yes, thanks for that tip. It definitely helps. I hope the developers can package this functionality into a dedicated button or section so that it is easily accessible.

If you open the Information Tool (from the Tools menu) you will see a "Highlights section"

This shows palette and style for each highlight.

If you click on the highlight (or the palette) the software will show you where the highlight appears in that resource

Thanks, Graham. This looks like it could be closer to the described functionality, but sadly, I'm not sure it's working on my end.

I have a resource open with many highlights (NKJV Bible, for example.) The Information tool is open next to the resource. The Highlights section is enabled, but showing nothing. If I were to hover over a specific highlight, it would show me where that highlight is located, but it doesn't provide me with a list of all highlights to this resource in all note files.

Is that how it's supposed to work?

If you click on a highlight in a resource the Highlight section in the tool should populate with relevant information

Hmm, yes, I can see that now. It is something, but it could be improved. For example, if I am on page 1200 and all of my annotations are on page 10, this feature won't be helpful.

I hope someone from Faithlife will take note of this suggestion and implement it as the functionality seems to be mostly there, but it's not yet intuitive. I think the model of the PDF reader in which one click reveals all of the annotations in that file. Here is an example from PDF Expert for Mac:

Two other options:

If you simply entry the search string {Highlight *} into the Inline search field you will get all highlights in the resource (right-hand side of diagram)

If you have all your highlights in the same notes document you can select Quotes view and the highlights will be shown (left-hand side of diagram)
