I would have assumed that the non-biblical references would be included and extensive. I can see none though - no footnotes, link or other types of bibliographical pointers to allow corroboration of argument.
What am I missing.

I believe they were cut due to space limitations in the print edition. (The bibliography and index, that is; if I recall correctly from my preview, the footnotes should be there.)
