For those of us in college or beyond, footnotes and bibliographies are an essential to our research papers. Since Logos is used extensively, I needed something that could retrieve both of the formats. I made a suggestion of having two types of citation entries but never got a reply. Then I discovered about a year or so later that you can get both footnotes and bibliography very simply.

The most obvious to everyone is how to retrieve bibliographies. Just click on the book you want to cite and click the "i" icon on the upper right hand corner of the book. It will flip and you can retrieve the bibliographical information in a number of formats, such as Turabian, MLA, APA, etc. This is perfect for your bibliography page. But what about citing sources in your paper?

If you take a direct quote, you can highlight the part you want to copy and copy it using Ctrl+C. When you paste it into your document, it will create an automatic footnote for you according to the rules of footnotes for the format you use (I use Turabian so I can only attest to that. If you are a Christian counselor then you can try it using APA style). If you are referring to an author and don't necessarily quote them but want to cite them as the source, then you can copy like before and paste into another document, copy the footnote source and delete the rest. Then you can paste the footnote into the place you desire in your paper. Here is the key though. You can't just simply highlight a word or two, hit Ctrl+C and paste it. No footnote will show up. You have to copy at least one complete sentence in order for this to work. I don't know why, but perhaps someone can chime in. But when you copy a section in the book and paste it in a document, the footnote will be readily available.

By doing this, you have now figured out how to utilize Logos' footnote and bibliography to your advantage. This is much better than typing in the entry word for word. And you can also do both as you go through your paper, so when you get to the end, there is very little cleanup. Thank you Logos for making our work that much easier. Research and deadlines are difficult enough, and you just made life a whole lot easier!
