Apps on Kindle Fire HDX 7

My KindleFire HDX 7 auto updates the Logos and Faithlife apps everyday. The same version and build appear to get installed over and over. Is this normal? Sometime the app icons have an "x" in the bottom right corner, causing a delay in opening.

I am considering getting another tablet to getaway from the Amazon ecosystem. Amazon hardly ever has the updates for my apps as quick as the play store.

    No, that is not normal.  Have you installed our apps from both Google Play and Amazon?  If so that might be the issue.

    I may have side loaded from an apk, but not from the Play Store. I have downloaded from the Amazon App Store.

    I have disconnected the Kindle Fire from my Amazon account. Reset the device to factory settings. I disabled the auto restore after the reset.

    Have downloaded the Logos android app from Amazon app store. Hopefully that takes care of my problem.
