Unexpected/Sudden Breakthrough: The Sacred Books of the East (50 vols.)

Don't know where this one was lurking for so long but it has suddenly /unexpectedly broken through the 100% mark in Community Pricing and is set to close on March 25 (on the wild assumption that anyone at Logos would actually be working on March 25)....
https://www.logos.com/product/16532/the-sacred-books-of-the-east
May be of interest to anyone working on comparative religions or anyone challenged in debating the merits of Christianity with someone currently devoted to one of these eastern faiths.
If you think you make ever have any use for any of these, this is probably the lowest price you will ever see for this set: currently at $1.60 per volume. Could go lower if there is a surge in interest as it has been some time since this one was on anyone's radar !!

I noticed this today too. Wow, I wonder what happened but am glad to hear that it passed 100%.
Now Let's see if we can get more people to bid so we can lower the price.

My guess is that it would be entirely feasible to get the price down to $75 or even to $70 in the time remaining.

I hope. I really want it, but can't pay that much.
I wonder what tagging and special advantage will add substantial value to these?

Bid what you are willing / able to pay and encourage others to also place bids.
If more people bid, then the price may reduce.... [:)]

Maybe production cost was lowered.
Unfortunately $80 is too high for me. At $40 I might consider it...

Would you consider bidding $70? It might make it there.

Well, we do have a full week left for people to bid. I think we can get it to $60. I'm going to be super optimistic and say that I think we can even get it down to $50! [:D]

Alright people, you have one week to place your bids. The sooner you do, the more you will encourage others to bid, the lower the price will be.

For closing price to become $ 50, need 25 % more bids of $ 50 or higher (current progress is 80 %) => The Sacred Books of the East (50 vols.)
A closing price of $ 70 is a discount of 72 % off regular price, which is already 2 % better than March Madness champion.
If the current bids less than $ 65 were raised to $ 65, then closing price would become $ 65 or less.

$70 for 50 volumes :-) May even go lower. This is fantastic. The resource does look very interesting :-)

Indeed, if just the $50 bids were raised, then the closing price would likely already be at $60 and inching toward $55 and perhaps beyond—especially with a week left. That would encourage others to bid as well.
If owning this collection in Logos would be useful and affordable to any users, it's better to hop on sooner than later!

$50 might be very doable since we have 6 days if enough people jump on purchasing it I would say $50 is possible although I am not 100% sure how likely this is since it has been easy to convince people to hop on some smaller books recently to get them down drastically. But this is bigger pill to swallow. I think it would be a great bargain at $100, offering very important texts for inter religious dialogue but how much better if we can get it down to $1 a volume.

With bidding bump at $ 50, closing price could drop to $ 60 followed by $ 50; noticed progress of $ 50 bids has improved since yesterday.
Thankful for $ 80 cross over of 100 % on a Thursday with eight days before scheduled closing.
Thankful for more community bids of $ 65+ that has already decreased closing by $ 15.

Well we are currently down to $1.30 a volume if there are enough late comers hopping on board $1 might be very doable. I am content with the price as it stands but the lower the better!!!!!

A teeny-tiny bump for the Monday crowd - doesn't look like it'll take much for the price to go down to $60.00 soon.

$50 isn't impossible. The price is very good now at $65. It can only get better as others enter a bid or bump up their existing bids that will fall short at this point.

I'm sure it isn't impossible but I won't hold my breath too long at this stage. And I'm glad the price went down to $65.00; right now just going down by another $5.00 would make me even happier. Baby steps [:D]

Rare event. The low successful bid price went up from $65 to $70 today.
0 -
Noticed => The Sacred Books of the East (50 vols.) is now $ 70 so more bids of $ 65 or higher are needed to change closing price back to $ 65.
Progress of $ 80 bids has become smaller, which happens when bids of $ 80 or higher are reduced or canceled.

That's crazy. an't say I've ever seen a community pricing go up in price. I wonder if people misunderstand the concept and lowered their bids to try to get the price to go lower.
Note: If you bid $80, you also bid $75, $70, $65, $60, etc. So if you want it to go lower, the best way to do that is to get more people to bid, not lower your bid.

Thanks Jacob for clarifying that. I sort of figured that that is the way the Community pricing mechanism works but it was good of you to confirm this especially for newbies like me.

Well, that hurts! I came here expecting to see it had gone down to $60 and it went up! I'm staying in at $70 but nothing higher [:(]
Hopefully the only further movement we see will be downward.

Second best is having users who bid lower than $ 65 to increase bids to $ 65. Graph shows a bump of bidders at $ 50; if those bids were raised to $ 65, then closing price would drop to $ 65 or lower (since a bid of $ 65 includes $ 60, $ 55, $ 50, ...)

Right. My bid is still at $80, but I will only pay what the closing bid is (which now appears to be $70 [:(]). I won't pay $80.
Yeah, I wish all those $50 bidders would raise their bid to $60 or $65. That could push it down to $60.

It's odd that it almost seems to have dropped across the board. Is it possible that Faithlife adjusted the threshold upward (i.e., by raising the minimum production cost necessary for putting it into production)? That may not be the case here, but they have occasionally revised the minimum production cost, even sometimes lowering it to get community-pricing resources across the line. Otherwise, perhaps a number of users lowered their bids or dropped them altogether (as you suggested).
Regardless, this set would be an exceptional value for $60 or $65 (respectively at $1.20 or $1.30 per volume). Just a couple days left to bid!

Sometimes have observed drop of higher bid progress after closing date is set. Noted progress of $ 80 bids has decreased relative to $ 75 since closing was set. Also relative progress of $ 65 compared to $ 70 has increased (slope downward is nearly horizontal).

For $ 60 closing, need more bids of $ 60 of higher, which could be a combination of new bids and existing bids being increased ($ 50 still has a bidding bump) => https://www.logos.com/product/16532/the-sacred-books-of-the-east
Note: a bid is amount willing to pay for resource; payment does not happen until item ships, which has ranged from a few weeks to a few years.

Thanks, Keep Smiling, that makes sense. I did notice that $50 and other prices have risen a bit (relative to other higher bids), and it does takes more bidders to raise the line at $50 (or other lower bids) than at $80. Anyway, I personally wouldn't want to miss it for $0.10 to $0.20 per volume, since, as you and others have said, those bidding $55 and under could raise their maximum bids and push the price down to $60. A few new bidders wouldn't hurt either!

Just a reminder:
Bidding closes at 12:00pm (PST) on Friday, 3/25/2016. Don’t miss out!
Bids $65 will succeed and with enough interest may go down. If you want this and have a bid currently lower than $65 you will need to move it... My bid is still at $100 US... you end up paying what the closing bid is, so currently I and everyone who has bid $65 and over will get it for that... anyone lower will miss out and I hate the thought of someone missing out on a set like this over a few cents per volume... Just trying to give people fair warning.

My guess is that it is still open for bids because it temporarily dipped below the break-even point. The only problem with that is that the $80 price point has always continued to meet the break-even point. On the other hand, perhaps it's just an Easter present.
