Bug: sort order of notes in beta12

I have noticed that notes added using the right click on a particular verse in a biblical text would not necessarily end up in canonical order in the note file. I was never able to figure out why, and have tried at various times to delete note entries and add them again to "rebuild" the note file index. I have also dragged the notes back into canonical order, but that did not rectify the problem for future note additions. Today, I finally noticed that depending on which version of the Bible I am using, the note I added would end up in a different location in the note file. The notes added while right-clicking on TNIV and NET Bible showed up at the beginning of the note file, the notes added while right-clicking on verses in ESV showed up further down in the note file, and notes added while right-clicking on the NKJV and NASB95 ended up at the very end of the note file (after notes on Revelations). I was able to duplicate this same problem in another book of the Bible, and the same groupings reoccurred (TNIV & NET at the beginning, ESV in the middle, and NKJV and NASB95 at the end of the note file) All of the notes show biblical references from the TNIV (my default version) in the pop-up. Then I created another note file, and experimented again. This time, all the ESV generated notes were at the top, the TNIV, NET and NLT generated notes were in the middle, the NASB generated notes were after that, and the NKJV generated notes were at the very end.

Hi Ken,
I am able to reproduce this, although, mine weren't ordered exactly as yours. I will add this to the feedback on note order.
Thanks,

Yes, I am also able to confirm that this is a problem. It would be wonderful if this were fixed. I have an exegesis layout which has both an English Bible (NIV) and original languages (NA27 & BHS) open. As I'm doing my exegesis work, and taking notes, I have not always been conscious of whether I add a note to a certain text reference via the NIV or via NA27 or BHS. However, if I add via NA27 or BHS then inevitably the note is not inserted in the correct canonical order.
Therefore, for the most part, I've tried to be conscious of adding notes via the NIV and the NIV only. Then things mostly stay in correct canonical order. However, it also seems to me that once you've done it "wrong" (i.e. via NA 27 or BHS) once, then it's as if a certain corruption is introduced in the sorting list, and in the future, even if you do it "right" (i.e. via NIV) then it may not always insert the new note at the right canonical spot. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't; no guarantees after you've done it "wrong."
Please note that I consistently pick "Reference" when adding the note, and not "Selection."
If this were corrected, it would make using notes so much less frustrating, so thank you for your attention to this matter.
Addition: I work with 4.0a, not with the beta, so it is not a beta only problem.

So far, it is putting them in canonical order for me.
However, I think it would be most helpful to have the option of adding new notes to be in canonical order OR to be in the order that they are added to the note file.
By having it this way, it is possible to create verse lists in order that they would be used in teaching a lesson.
I realize they can be dragged into the proper order, but if you're creating a long list, it is not very convenient.
