Loading a Layout takes over 3 minutes

Running Logos 4.0b beta 12

Dell Latitude D620, 1.66 GHz, 3 gig of Memory - Nvidia graphics card

At the home page at start up I click on layouts and load my devotional layout - three panels with a total of 12 books open.  All of the links are off, all visual filters are off.

IT WILL TAKE 4 MINUTES TO LOAD

WHY?

It can take up to the same amount of time if I want to switch layouts.

Any thougts?

I've had layouts take a really long time to load as well. I'm not sure what causes it.
