de-prioritizing resources?

Is there any way to keep a resource from showing up in the information pane? Or at least move it to the bottom of the pane (where it won't show up till after I am done reading the prefered resources anyway.)

when I hover over a word in the NASB95 the first resource that shows in the info pane is the COED (Concise Oxford English Dictionary) or a Bible Encyclopedia - I am not interested in seeing a definition of the Eglish word - I am looking for my prioritized resources that deal with the Greek or Hebrew.

I thought of deleting the English resources from my library - act of desperation, not what I would prefer.

Any help?

It may help to make the info pane taller. Mine is full height.

BTW, on other words sometimes the COED show up first instead of ISBE, but this is followed by the entries seen here.

The information panel should search resources in the order they appear in your prioritize list in your library. If you're not sure how to prioritize resource, following the video link in your signature. If you have prioritised and Logos is ignoring your settings, let us know which word you're having trouble with and we'll check it.

Actually, I may be wrong in what I just said. I think that might be a feature of 4.0b which is being beta-tested at the moment. You can download the beta from the beta forum, or wait for a few weeks until the bugs are ironed out and it's made generally available.

I am coming up on the end (3 days) of the return policy time limit. So I do not have a few weeks to decide whether to return 4.0 and stick with LDLS 3

If you are looking at an English resource you will see the English reference first, as far as I know. If there's a way to change that, I'm not aware of it.

I'm using 4.0b Beta 12 and I just noticed that there is an option under Settings on the Information panel that allows me to deselect "Show definitions for surface text" in the "Definitions" panel. You can try the beta if you want, or you can wait until it's live. But for all I know it's also in the official release version. Have a look and see.

In 4.0b you will have the ability to show or hide various pieces of information in the Information Pane as Rich points out. You will not have the option to sort them or arrange them in different order.

I hope this one feature is not the sole reason you'd want to stick with 3.0 over 4.0.

Speed is my primary issue - I have tried everything in the Wiki with no change on my machines. Note functionality is second - I do much of my sermon prep in my notes in LDLS 3. The ability to choose what info is displayed in the hover popup as I can in LDLS 3 (apparently will not be addressed in 4.0) is my third issue.

de-prioritizing was a last gasp at addressing the speed issue.

Yes it is in the beta.

Go to the PC Beta section of the forum for more information. Remember that beta testing is for those who can afford some inconvenience and even inoperability with the product. There are still a few bugs in this beta.

For safety you can choose to create a second user profile in your computer and download the beta under that user name. Thus you have both versions running in case the beta is a problem.

After reading the warnings and stuff about the beta versions I am going back to LDLS 3. With only a few days left I have to make a decision. Again, thanks for your time and help.

One way to increase speed is to not use the information panel at all.

Instead, when you want to know more about a particular word, hover over the Louw-Nida number in the reverse-interlinear panel. If all you want is a down and dirty definition, this works great. Of course if you want to do a large number of words in a given passage, it would be a bit tedious to click on the English word then move the mouse down to the panel, back and forth, back and forth. But if it's only once in a while, it could speed things up considerably. Early on the info panel was a huge drag on my performance so I stopped using it. It's much better now, but I still don't use it. But others do and find it helpful.

Thanks Richard, I tried that but I found it to be just as you said, tedious. I am so spoiled by the hover feature in LDLS 3 which I have customized to give me exactly what I want. Keeping the information panel closed does deal with 90% or more of the speed issues for me, but I use it as a workaround for the non-customizable hover popup, so I seem to be stuck. Remember that you paid for the resources not the engine. You can stick with L3 until the features you need in L4 are in place and still have gotten a good buy on the resources.

I think MJ is giving you great advice; I am doing just what she said plus I do dabble in L4 occasionally, watch the tutorial videos on the website and I have no trouble using the new resources in L3. Yes, some are built only for L4 but the vast majority will & Logos will continue to support new resources for L3 for some time. Customer Service would have more accurate info. God Bless

Logos support can send you the L4 resources in a Libronix format on a DVD to get them into 3.0.

Unfortunately this does sometimes happen with very large downloads. The solution is normally to untick the download that is causing the problem and trying again. You might find another one does so later, but again try once more with that resource unticked. Resources that successfully downloaded should be cached, so you won't be
wasting bandwidth. Eventually you should get most resources downloaded, and you can manually add the others from the FTP site if you wish.

Just tried again for grins and the update stops at 99% of 1000 Bible images, meditates for a couple of minutes, then total progress goes back to zero and 1000 bible images starts over. Arrgh!

Thanks Mark, I am trying again, this time I looked for 1000 Bible images in the list and it does not show! Also now 3.0G wheras a little while ago it was 3.0f. When I have canceled in the past the update window shows a no changes message - so no updates make it through.

Tried again to update after unchecking the problem file, same problem, different file. I am trying once more, having unchecked all the large files and all optional resources.
