HEY!  What happened to the "desktop" version of the library?  I clicked on my link today and it took me to the mobile version . . . .

I like Apples.  Especially Honeycrisp.

Todd, thanks.  Something must have happened with my Firefox bookmark.  Had been using it fine/consistently since Bob unveiled it a while back. Today, it just went to mobile site.  Weird.  Thanks.

Setting ?beta=true sets a cookie in your browser. As long as that cookie is there then every time you go to library.logos.com, you will see the desktop version. If that cookie gets removed for any reason (there are a number of ways to remove cookies), then you'll start seeing the mobile site again. You can always just reset the cookie with ?beta=true again.

Thank you, Bryan.  Btw, I know it is in the 'early early' stages, but are we supposed to be actively doing anything with it, from a beta perspective?  Will it have its own page?  I get the drift right now it is a back-burner kind of thing: available, unfinished, but that is about it. Correct?

Does this work for BB? I've got a BB Tour but all I get is "Error encountered during XML parse: Duplicate attribute 'id'.

Correct. We haven't finalized anything yet, but we were thinking of leaving it at library.logos.com & instead of the beta=true thing, just detect if you're on a desktop browser or a mobile browser. If we did this we would also have links somewhere in both the desktop & mobile that let you switch to the other if you weren't detected correctly.

No. This is a desktop version of the site designed for full, modern browsers. Mobile users should continue using the mobile version we initially launched with. You can remove the beta cookie to get back to the mobile site by visiting http://library.logos.com/?beta=false

Not trying to highjack the thread, but the title is exactly the title I wanted to post about. Just switched over to a smartphone from a regular cell phone and have had time to play with the library.logos.com a few times...

    1. Nowhere near the accessibility and ability of the IPhone app...

    2. For what it is, it does offer some functionality...

    3. Running WinMobile 6.5 with MicroSD card, I sit here wondering how hard it would be to come up with some kind of "mini" browser to access our resources straight from the storage card... Would this allow a non Iphone/non touchscreen Smartphone to have better functionality and use???

Overall, for the amount of time and resources put into this "backburner" program, it has what I would consider great potential... However I believe with a lot of consensus in the industry from what I've been reading, is that the Mobile Web product is the wave of the future, not necessarily the apps for every different mobile platform. Seems many in the industry believe that proprietary apps will be their own downfall... So most of what I've been reading is that unless one comes out with open source ideals, that most are going to go the way of presenting everything directly through the mobile web content and not apps...

Hopefully we'll see even more improvements to the library.logos.com project, it could be very powerful... But I'm still waiting on the Sermon file add-in, Smart Tags, PBB support and full printing capability in Logos 4 first ;)

    Bryan,

I just heard about this feature today.  As a software developer and a long-time user of Logos, I can't say enough about how great this version is.  I've seen http://bible.logos.com/ and in my opinion, it doesn't hold a candle to the beta version here.  Allowing users to use one, familiar, UI between both the web and the desktop is an excellent feature.  I just wanted to give a kudos for the work on this product, and encourage more focus towards developing this interface.  It's extremely nice.

Personally, I think it should be marketed a bit more, because my guess is, not enough people know about it.  You really have to search and know it exists in order to find it.  My guess is that once people find out about it, they'll start using it much more.

Thanks David. I'm glad you like it.

We have intentionally kept it quiet because it's sort of a back-burner project & is still early in development.

I certainly hope that changes and moves more to a front-burner.  It's a game changer for us netbook users.  I can't express to you enough how slow Logos is typically on a netbook... I'm actually saving for a nicer computer simply to support the desktop platform.  If I had known about the web version before, I wouldn't have even needed to install the desktop version on my netbook.

Just expressing my interest.  Thanks for the great work.

Thank you for helping me find the desktop version of library.logos.com.  It will definitely help me when I'm moving between my computer and my secretary's (I don't want to install Logos on her computer).

I do have a question though.  Is there anything displayed on the homepage?  Mine is blank.  The other options at the top look very similar to L4 but homepage is blank.

Just curious if I should start playing with my internet settings/browser or if that is the way it is for everyone.

    Thanks.

    Peace & Blessings,

    Colin+

Colin, the tools that are currently available are few, but it does give us the ability to access much of our library via the web (perhaps about 60% of my library is accessible) and to know that Logos will be building up this site over time.  We know, for instance, their stated goal of having all our resources accessible online.  They are held back only by current publishers and licensing arrangements.  It is hard to predict how many resources will be added, and in what time frame.

I also have the impression that this particular application (library.logos.com) is not on the front burner, so it will not be full-featured soon.  But it is not forgotten, either.  They have released this online beta application for us to use and  to give feedback (on its current functionality).  They have stressed it is far from complete (as Bryan reiterated) and don't advertise its availability because it is so incomplete.

Wow, this would be a fun project to work on! (I'm a UI designer & front end developer [HTML/CSS] by trade). I'm sure the Logos web team is excited about it. It's going to be a real game changer. Let me know if you need any extra hands I'd love to help make this a reality. :)

    Amazing.

    Kolen,
I believe there are two requirements.

    1 is Java

2 is that the proper cookie must be set using ?beta=true

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

That's Espresso Dan.  And Cappuccino.  And a fair bit of black battery acid thrown in I'm sure.
