Can someone explain the difference between the Holman Bible Handbook and the Holman Concise Bible Commentary? It seems that a lot (most/all?) of the content is identical between the two.
Both contain the same commentary. The differences are:
The Handbook includes information on the Bible itself, the world of the Bible, the use of the Bible by the Christian and the church, and a survey of doctrine, Christian history, world religions and missions. This material is absent from the commentary.
The commentary contains somewhat different charts and maps but that is about it.
Note that the maps and charts in the Commentary are also found in the Holman Book of Bible Maps, Charts, and Reconstructions.
What we clearly have here is repackaging of stock material in different forms with additional material added to different resources.
Good deal, thanks for the explanation Mark.
