This is a request that made have been made obsolete by the ability to use dynamic collections within the library has the same effect as "temporarily hiding". It would be helpful if the individual creating this request (Keep Smiling 4 Jesus I mean you ) would indicate if the dynamic collections meets his requirements. If they do not, perhaps changing this request to add and ANDNOT operator and a method for saving/reusing library filter strings may be the solution.

Maybe it would be nice to have an option in the Library view, where you can select collections to be hidden. That way can keep the Perseus collection (which is great for searching Greek/Latin words), but aren't bothered by it's appearance in the Library view.
