Clarification on new 6.11 change to "Copy Location As"

I have a question on one of the new 6.11 changes:

“Copy Location as: URL” will now use ref.ly URLs. Example: http://ref.ly/logosres/esv;ref=BibleESV.Mk1.1
New option “Copy Location as: L4” will use logosres links. Example: logosres:esv;ref=BibleESV.Mk1.1

So now, if I copy a change from a resource to paste into a Note for example, and I use URL as in the past, when I hover over it I no longer see a 'bubble' of the beginning of the text at the location I copied.

But if I use the L4 copy now, I get that summary of the text in the bubble.

Is that the way it is supposed to work now?

Too late to change, but as a feedback comment it would have been nice to add new functionality to a new Copy option, instead of disrupting the work flow of those who used the URL option and then discovered it no longer worked the same.

The comments in the thread quoted above would suggest that it wasn't the intention to remove the hover preview from ref.ly links.

No, that's a bug. Thanks for reporting it.

As per https://community.logos.com/forums/p/124060/810220.aspx#810220, they should function exactly the same. If you find any places where they don't, please let us know.

Not sure I understand what the differences are between traditional logosres and ref.ly other than there are differences, that didn't seem clear in the thread Mark linked to, but in any case thanks for identifying and fixing it Bradley!

Hover over the "URL" and "L4" links for an explanation.

Basically, URL will work from any app, but only if you have an internet connection. L4 doesn't require any internet connection, but doesn't work in some apps, especially on Macs or if you have high security settings.
