Taking my Daily Readings Electronic

I follow the Byzantine Lectionary for my daily bible readings. I also have a book which provides a paragraph or two of commentary.

What I would like to do is add notes/links to the Lectionary that point to the exact quote in the logos resource used in my commentary book AND have the ability to control the selection that pops up in the preview window.

I have created hyperlinks and the pop up window starts in the right place but the quote extends past the end point in my commentary book.

Some more specifics.

The commentary book I use is titled "The Bible and the Holy Fathers for Orthodox"

So I created a notes doc with the same title. I then use the Resource Abbr. for the hyperlink text. today I used PHFVI and attached the link. That way in the note, I hover over PHFVI and get the pop up which starts in the correct place but extends past the quote desired.

The goal is that over time as I read to electronically duplicate my hard copy resource so that as long as I have the resource in logos, I can read online and eventually completely replicate the book within Logos.

I'm a little confused as I don't think Manley's book is available in Logos format. And I don't know the acronym PHFVI.

However, the lectionary is dynamic text - meaning you can set the translation as you choose - not real text so it would be preferable to attach the notes to the Bible rather than the lectionary. But the answer is no, you don't have the ability to control the length of the preview independent of the length given by the URL.

If I knew what PHFVI meant and what Logos resources you were using, I might be able to help you in building the correct URL.

I just have a hardcopy of Manley's book. Todays reading was from Genesis 46:1-7.

In The Bible and the Holy Father's for Orthodox one of the readings for this select was, Budge, E. A. W. (Ed.). (1907). The Paradise or Garden of the Holy Fathers (Vol. 1). London: Chatto & Windus. which in Logos resources is PHFVI.

I want to create a link to the following text:

"All the various things which take place in the world must be divided into two categories, for some happen through the direct Will of God, and the others by His permission only; the things which are wrought to the praise of God, especially happen by the direct desire of God, but all those which appertain to loss (or injury), and danger, and to matters which produce tribulation take place by the permission of God."

I created a note in the Lectionary for on the Genesis reference that links to my Notes.doc titled "The Bible and the Holy Fathers for the Orthodox'. Now when I hover over my note, the popup preview shows the quote referenced above but runs past it. I would like to see exactly the what is quoted above.

If I do this every day over a year (which usually means it will take 5 years), as long as I have resources for what Manley quotes I should be able to "duplicate" Manley and while I wont have Manley as a Logos resource, I will have links in Logos that mimic Manley for my devotional purposes.

Okay I think this is what you are doing ... and no, I haven't found a way to limit the popup

However in quotes mode, the note file shows the correct limit so it may be an error.

Thank you for sharing the screen shot. Are these personal books you have made?

I ask this because I cannot locate The Bible and the Holy Fathers for Orthodox in my library or in the Logos catalog. I own Orthodox Platinum Library. The reason you do not get the Bible text on the pop ups would be because in your preferred the top book is "The Bible and the Holy Fathers for Orthodox" I had something similar happen when the New Interpreter's Bible was placed at the top of my list.
