Not sure I'm posting this in the right spot but am wondering where Logos is regarding the "not responding" issue that still is hanging around in Logos 6.
I used to have this problem, but have not experienced it in quite some time. I can force it if I create a very crowded layout, with a lot of open resources, and attempt to load it. Beyond that I seldom see the problem.
What version of Logos and OS are you running?
What are you doing when this problem occurs?
What are your machine specs?
Version of Logos =
Logos Bible Software 6.11 SR-26.11.0.0041
ASUS 1 Gig HD / 16 Gigs of RAM
Latest Version of Windows 10, although this stuff really doesn't matter a lot from my end. That's because I've seen this since I've had Logos.
I see the problem for instance when I go to search - let's say I type in "in the beginning" ... that comes up no problem. Let's say I right click on Gen 1:1 and hit Passage Guide and then I'll see "not responding."
I get it other ways also and have reported it before. It's a known issue at Logos and I was told they were working on it.
"not responding" can arise in unexpected situations, so it is usually not repeatable. I can't reproduce it for this situation, but I noticed an appreicable lag compared with using my tailored Passage Guide, which lacks many of the online/media sections. Does it make a difference if you use a similarly tailored/custom Guide?
I tried running the default passage guide as well as my custom passage guide for Genesis 1:1. Both appear almost instantly.
The fact I was told it was a problem known to Logos tells the story I suppose. I'm using an up to date ASUS with a 7200 rpm HD with 16 Gigs of RAM. I should not be getting the "not responding" of course even with a much less powerful computer. Gen 1:1 appears instantly for me also. But when I do the passage guide (just one of the times I get this "not responding" messages) that's when I'll see "not responding" pop up. Once in a great while it will not.
Dave, not sure what you mean by tailored/custom Guide. I'm doing the least tasking with Logos and get that snag. Always have. :-)
Relax ... my ASUS has very similar specs and allows me time to savor my coffee as I watch it display "not responding". I have not been able to determine a generalized pattern although I have figured out a few things it clearly doesn't want to process. I genuinely sympathize with you but until the source of the problem can be identified - something I'm sure isn't easy because I've tried - we have little choice but to live with it.
We might indeed have to live with it (suffer the repetition) but my initial reason for popping the question was, I was told Logos was working or looking into it. I was and am still wondering if Logos has got any closer to fixing the snag. Now if I were relaxing any more than I am, I'd be in a coma.
Dave, not sure what you mean by tailored/custom Guide.
See https://wiki.logos.com/Customizing_the_Passage_and_Exegetical_Guides You just include the sections you want.
A late thank you for this pointer Dave. Appreciated!
