How to save search shortcuts with different search criteria?

I regularly do searches using different criteria. One searches within the entire library, another just within my quotations collection, another within my theology collection. But it is getting to be a bit of a drag to have to change the collection each time I do these searches. Especially so as I get frustrated as it takes too long for the list of collections to be shown (as I again wait and watch the rotating clock icon), especially the first time I do a search after launching L4.

It would be great if there was a way to save a shortcut which included the search criteris, in this case the collection. Does anyone know if this is possible? If not, it would be great to have it.

Absolutely possible. Use Favorites. Drag the search you want to save to the Favorites pane and it will save the exact specifications of that search.

Mark - that is
great. It works as you said. But also, if I drag one of these new
favourites to the top main shortcut area, the search now maintains its
criteria. Previously, draging the search straight to the top main
shortcut area only made a shortcut to a generic search but lost all of
the criteria such as what collection to search within.

If I
can drag searches to the favourites panel and keep the criteria, but
not to the main shortcut area, is this a bug, or just a 'feature'?

Good question. I don't know why it should be different.

BTW: I have had some flaky behavior from searches saved in favorites. Occasionally they forget the collection they were supposed to search. If you see this I think it would be good to report it as a bug. I'll do the same.

This might be associated to the problem that i am having with Shortcuts. (i know my post title doesn't seem to have any relevance to this issue, but look at George's reply, specifically the Edit).

i could see that the parameters for your searches are not being carried over to the shortcut (same issue that i am having)

Steve, thanks for alerting us to that. It will be good news if shortcuts can be directly dragged to the top bar. But in the meantime, I hope that going via the favourites pane will keep working.
