I think that this thread is doing an excellent job of showing why the ability to import graphics into Logos along with descriptive, searchable text is an important function. If Logos continues to believe that this function does not belong in notes, then Logos should provide the function elsewhere - as a separate document type (as sermons, illustrations and PBB's are) or as a searchable extension of the sentence diagram document type.
NOTE: I would also add tables (which also serve as templates) as an equally critical piece of "notes".
Given that Logos itself is moving towards more and more graphic content, It seems reasonable for users to expect to be able to follow the same path. I do, however, personally believe that Logos should not attempt to create all these document formats, they should simply provide searching and storing.
