Multiple Notes documents being created when highlighting
there used to be a bug which sometimes resulted in a separate notes document being created for each highlight (using resource- specific documents)
Ive just seen it again as below:
This is with the resource "The Prophetic Imagination" and Bible! app 5.2.2

Just reading the resource again and finding that the creation of each separate Notes document when highlighting takes around 15 seconds which really slows down the reading process.

Any thoughts on this?
I think I am seeing it in other resources as well

Graham,
Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce this issue. Please use Report a Problem so we can take a look at your app logs.

When I started reading the resource today highligting had created 20 unnamed notes documents...I then highlighted some text...And this created another notes document
What I am wondering is if there is a corruption in the downloaded resource. Did you try it "in the cloud"? Have you tried it with another FL app?

Thanks Alabama
the problem persists if the resource is just in the cloud, and also appears in the Verbum app.
As alluded to above there was an earlier bug (thought fixed) which caused this sort of problem so I am wondering if this is another instance / variant of it.
hopefully the logs will help determine this

I have the same problem. What can I send to help identify it?

Open the Help panel and tap on Report a Problem, then reference this thread in the email and mention Kevin Byford in there as well so the support teams know to send it to me.

Did this ever get resolved? I am trying to learn how to start using notes and highlights and experienced this exact issue when attempting to take a few notes using the "Resource-specific Note Document" setting on my iPhone.

I've just seen this in another resource - "Introducing Covenant Theology"

Any nearer on identifying what is going on here?
It's getting to the point when I am really struggling to highlight when I am reading.

I believe I've worked out what is going on - and there is a simple workaround.
It's - at least in my case - a Document naming issue associated with Custom Reading Plans and resource-specific note-file highlighting. And it's not a mobile-specific issue but affects the desktop apps as well.
When I create Custom Reading Plans I was using the same name for the plan as for the resource. This meant that when I highlighted some text the software (mobile or desktop) would try and place the highlight in a Notes document with the same name as the Reading Plan document.
Because you can't have multiple documents with the same name it went for "resource name (2)" instead
The next time it created another document "resource name (3)" and so on.
So I'm now adding an (RP) to the end of my reading plan names and it looks like this gets round the problem.
(Note it's just an issue with Custom Reading Plans as auto-generated plans are created with names that are not the same as the resource names)
I'm not sure if there is any easy software fix to this so my workaround might be the best way forward.
I don't know if this addresses other reports of the problem but I think it explains mine.
Some confirmation from Faithlife that this makes sense (or otherwise) would be appreciated.

You're correct, Graham! We should be making those names unique for you. We'll look into it, thanks!
