Problem with Version Abbreviations

I love RefTagger, it is simply superb. I use it on my Wordpress site (hosted on my own server) at www.flyinginthespirit.cuttys.net.
I particularly love the way in which I can 'bypass' the default Bible version (in my case the NIV) by inserting the initials of the Bible translation I want to use, in brackets, after the Bible reference - for instance John 3:16 (KJV) will give the KJV translation of that verse instead of the NIV which is my default; (NASB) will give the NASB and so on.
However, and here is my query: I have noticed that this feature does not work with The Message. If I put (The Message) - which is exactly how it is spelled in the plugin's settings panel - into the reference, it defaults to the NIV and the Message part in brackets is not highlighted as a link.
I wonder if you could please take a look at this apparent problem for me? I am using Wordpress 4.5.2 and RefTagger 2.0.3, mainly on Mozilla Firefox 46.1 although this also happens on any versin of Firefox and indeed all other browsers I have tried. I don't think it's a browser issue, then.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

I believe that it should just be John 3:16 (MESSAGE)
