FL: Please make Logos 7 a worthy alternative to Logos Now

I can see no little sense of trepidation on the forums as we await the coming out of Logos 7. Logos Now has made money by offering features not available in Logos 6. I hope that when Logos 7 comes out, those who invest in it will feel like they have the very best at that time even if they don't use Logos Now. It has worked well for those of us who are willing to wait for Logos 7 to salivate at Logos Now features as an incentive to either use it or really want the upgrade when it comes out. It would be a major let-down if comes the time, we get say, only half of the goodies in Logos Now. I hope that LN will continue to be early access to features, not a competitor to a full version upgrade. In other words, when Logos 7 comes out, the added value of LN should mainly be new features that would be developed henceforth for Logos 8.

I agree with you (even though I'm a Logos Now subscriber). However, I'm sure that the online features of Logos Now will not make their way to 'normal' Logos 7, and of course some LN features will presumably only be available in the more expensive packages.

I expect that too and would be fine with it. What I expressed was more in relation to what I would consider "core" features (e.g., concordance, theology explorer, etc).

I would add that I hope that access to features will be analogous to what was done in relation to Logos 7. That is to say, one did not have to buy say, Diamond, to get all the features. One could buy an extended crossgrade or even specific features separately. If it were to be any different (say, I have to buy Platinum to get the concordance and that's the only way), there would be a great outcry of discontent). Yet to paraphrase the apostle, though I write thus, I have better expectations. What I am writing is actually not so much an expression of strong concern as providing feedback as to what would probably please users in Logos 7 and alternatively, what would be sure to displease.

I think if I were Logos, I would convert crossgrades to the Now model. And allow ownership with purchase of packages. Continue the free engine.

1. The cumulative price of crossgrades (for newer customers) is increasingly prohibitive.

2. There's not enough margin in the crossgrades to support the increased number of features.

3. It'll ease the psycho-pain of conversion to a subscription model, that will eventually have the best stuff.

4. It'll fit embedding more Proclaim-like functionalities, which uses a subscription model.

Of course, if Logos did this, I'd squeal to high heaven. But business is business.

Thanks Graham, I hadn't seen that.

Guess I was just articulating my slight disappointment with how Logos 5 moved to 6. Unless 7 is very appealing to me, with new and fully working features, I might wait for a later version bump.
