Chromebook and Faithlife Google Playstore Apps

I have been desiring to purchase a larger screen android tablet to use the FaithLife android apps on. My Kindle Fire HDX7 works fine, yet I have visual issues. I sometimes can't see the text as well as I could a few years ago.
I have looked at the 8" and 9.7" android tablets. I am impressed with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" with 32 GB storage. It is available today in the latest 6.0 OS for $399.99.
I have been watching the Chromebooks, since they announced the Google Play Store apps are coming to Chromebooks. Google has the Acer Chromebook R11 on sale for $249, with the Playstore installed.

It has 2GB ram and 32GB storage.
Will this run the FaithLife apps? Is the 2GB Ram adequate? I see much upside to the Chromebook as a replacement for the Tab S2 beyond price difference.
Thanks

It is my understanding, no. Logos has desktop apps for Windows & Mac; mobile apps for Android & iOS. Chromebook runs "Chrome OS." Some developers have "ported" their apps to run on Chrome, but from a quick look at the Chrome store, FL isn't one of them.

I don't know if one can give an unqualified "no" anymore given the upcoming Google Play support on Chromebooks (this fall).
If Chromebooks will be running Android apps (as the press information suggests) then I would suspect they would be able to run the Bible app (word is "natively" as opposed to using ARC). However I am sure there will be some issues that pop up on an app-by-app basis.
I am holding off purchasing a new Chromebook until I get more info (my old Acer C720 will not be included in the Google Play update).

Thanks for the heads up. FWIW - here is a link that is instructive: https://chrome.googleblog.com/2016/05/the-google-play-store-coming-to.htmlKen Hicks said:I don't know if one can give an unqualified "no" anymore given the upcoming Google Play support on Chromebooks (this fall).
EDIT: The forum is acting up for me so I am unable to make that link active. Sorry!macOS, iOS & iPadOS |Logs| Install

If Google is to be believed this year (we heard this story before) the apps should work since Google is building the Android app functionality into ChromeOS starting with a few Chromebooks and then adding more later in the summer/fall. Of course we'll see. The announcement last year that devs could make them work on ChromeOS didn't help us last year because there seems to have been a problem making the FL apps work so they didn't do the work to do it since it was not a big enough segment of the user base (reason is my conjecture). This disappointed me, but I understood from their view.

Maybe the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 would be my best solution to get touch screen using the android bible apps. It is basically double the screen size of my KFHDX7. At 54, my eyes get strained reading on the 7" screen. I have tried increasing font sizes, but then I am having to scroll more.
I am going to hold off on any purchase for now, hoping the new Chromebooks will have better hardware to run the android apps.

I just got the Asus Chromebook Flip and put it in Dev mode to get the Play store on it. I haven't been able to test any apps since it was left at home to download and I have a wedding and meeting after that. I'll post an update when I have to time to test it out to let you know how they work.

loaded ok and I signed in fine. Opened ESV and couldn't find the splitscreen button. It's hidden by the ChromeOS shelf. If you set your Shelf to autohide you can get to it and open the second window pane.
Android sharing doesn't work. It acts like it will but offers no options to share. i tried to visual copy a verse and it won't even let me save it.
Little tested so far, but that's it so far. Generally works, but not perfectly and it's very slow compared to my Galaxy S7 Edge.

Thanks Kevin for acquiring and testing the first Chromebook to get play store. I looked at the 2GB version at Best Buy last week. They did not have the 4 GB model. I really like the size and portability factor. I am sure the usability will improve as testing continues.
This same machine, with 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage may be the minimum for a Chromebook running the play store apps. A boost in processor may be needed as well. Amazon has dropped the price to $239 this week for the 4GB / 16 GB unit.

I have been running Android on my Asus Flip 2GB fine for the past few weeks. They are bugs---after all this is an alpha release. Testing Logos now. Seems to run just fine, even on a 2GB/16GB machine.

Beware for now because the last three ChromeOS updates have erased all of my Android apps. So I'm only installing a couple for now and not bothering to download many books at all.
