Can someone tell me if there is a backup that one can do in case Logos crashes so that I won't lose the personal books I have uploaded?
I called tech support. They tell me that there is no backup. If I load 200 books into Logos (consider the time invested), if the prog crashes, I lose the books and have to reload them again. One would think that there would be a mirror or backup available to offset this issue. I am sure that some people have large libraries they have uploaded.
You can backup you Logos folder and save it to an external hard drive. This saves downloading and indexing again. This is what I've done several times with no problems.
Sorry, I misread your post. It's about personal books.
Hi Scott, actually that is not true. You want to save your source files (the DOC or DOCX Word files) that you might need to re-compile if you make a change, you probably know where they are as you put them there. The compiled versions of Personal Books are in a folder under Windows, by default C:\Users\<youusername>\AppData\Local\Logos\Data\randomId\ResourceManager\Resources (with minor variations I think for Verbum, older versions of Windows, etc.). If you just back up this folder to a flash drive, if you have to reinstall your system you can do a SCAN command of that folder, and it will pick up all your personal books automatically.
While it doesn't address Personal Books specifically I don't think, this link has some good info about how to get ALL your resources back into Logos without downloading them, saving time and network bandwidth

Forgot to add, you can find those Logos compiled Personal Books by doing a system wide search for *.LBSPBB files.
I have hundreds of personal books and have made it my practice both to backup the source books (.docx files) and the resource folder to save all my resources.
Hi Don,
Thanks. I have the folder w/ the doc files. However, that is not the problem. The issue would be having to re-upload them, one by one into the personal books section on Logos. Consider 200 books and the time it takes to do them one at a time.
Sorry Scott, I guess I misunderstood the exact scenario. But if I understand correctly, if you have a computer that crashes and has to be reloaded from scratch (I assume this is one of many, otherwise there is no reason to upload your PBs to Faithlife), your PBs are still uploaded to Faithlife's servers, so the compiled PBs will come down with all your other resources upon a new installation correct?
(My links in my prior post would make it happen faster without having to download them.)
No. Forgive me for this being so difficult to understand-it is my fault. In the past, Logos had crashed on me and I have to reload the prog. When this happened, my personal books that I uploaded were no longer in my Logos 'personal books' section and I had to reload them again. I am planning on uploading a large amount soon and a friend asked me "what happens if Logos crashes-do they back up your program on a server so that when u reload the program the books will still be there?"I responded with, 'I don't believe so because in the past, I lost some books I had uploaded. I will ask on the forum. Which is what I am doing.I pray this is a better explanation.
For clarification:
in the past, I lost some books I had uploaded
Are you sure that you uploaded the compiled book? If so, it <should> have been available to you.
This has worked for me as well. As a result, I do not need to rebuild the personal books.

Creating copy of compiled *.lbspbb files allows scan command to copy and index compiled Personal Books (PB)
Logos wiki => Copy Logos Resources to Mac OS X (Supported – saves resource downloading) has location of Resource folder that includes *.lbspbb files.
'I don't believe so because in the past, I lost some books I had uploaded.
Apologies since have not "lost" any personal books; have successfully used scan command to copy resource files many times. Also have Logos and Verbum installed on several computers, which is useful for copying files between computers using network shared folders.
Keep Smiling [:)]
