Thanks

Can you clarify this please? You can either be running Logos 5 or Logos 6. I assume you have, at least, downloaded the Logos 6 free core engine. If so, you are running Logos 6. Is that the case?
It's important as the home page works differently in Logos 5 and 6.

In what way is it a mess? Can you post a screenshot showing the problem? See https://wiki.logos.com/Screenshot

Are you referring to a message which is (roughly) in the area outlined in red below?
If so, this is simply notifying you that the software has been updated to the current version. (It's blank on mine as I haven't updated the software recently)
To get rid of it click on the cross to the right of the message.
Are there other things that are causing concern?

This means you are running Logos 6. The .12 part indicates which incremental update was last installed. Are you sure there is only one letter after the version number (R). I would have expected SR (service release) or RC (release candidate). The main thing, however, is that we know you are running Logos 6. You can also know what version you are using by clicking on the help icon (top right looks like a circle with a question mark in it) and then selecting "About Logos Bible Software". The version number will be indicated in the Tech Support Information section.
Have you tried the home page settings as I suggested earlier?
