Crashing on startup - every time

My Logos 4 has started crashing every time on start up. It was working fine yesterday, but today it has been crashing. I rebooted by restarting and also by turning the computer off and then restarting. No difference. I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with 2GB of memory. I am running WIndows XP Professional SP-3. I'm using Kaspersky AV and no other programs seem to be affected. I have the latest Logos updates. Logos 3 is working fine. Thank you for any help you can give.

Paul,

Would you try to open Logos to a blank layout using the CTRL key? Hold down the CRTL key while you double click on the Logos icon, and keep holding it down until a pane appears. Select the option to start with a blank layout and sign in.

Let us now what happens and attach the log file if it crashes.

Logos 4 was doing the same thing to me. Maybe it's the new home page idea. I hit the control key and selected blank layout and now it works. Thanks Mark!

Paul, the error in your log file is caused by a corrupt index. The way to fix this is to
make a new index.

If you can get Logos started (with the CTRL key tip that Mark told your about) type "rebuild index" into the command
line and hit enter (no quotes).

If you cannot start Logos, delete the contents of this folder:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\LibraryIndex
and then start Logos, it will see that it doesn't have an index and
then will begin to build a new one.[Note: the AppData folder is hidden
so you will have to enable the viewing of hidden files and folders to
navigate to this folder.]

That is just a work-around to see if you can get past the Home Page or the Layout that normally opens with Logos 4. It hasn't actually fixed anything. If you open normally to the Home Page it suggests there is a problem with that. If you open to a saved (or your last open) layout then it probably means corruption in that layout.

It helps in these situations to have a log file to look at. You could enable diagnostic logging and if Logos 4 crashes again, attach the log file to a forum posting using the paperclip icon so others can take a look.

I suspect if you try to restart Logos without using the CTRL key it will crash again. If you enable logging and it does this attach the file. Also tell us if you normally open to the Home Page or a saved layout.
