Only recently when a user posted a complaint about a particular article from a reputable news source did I become aware of the site Faithlife News https://news.faithlife.com/ This is a service that I approve of, in theory, as an appropriate service available on the Homepage of Logos (not Verbum).
Tonight, I spent a significant chunk of time exploring the articles and various news sources appearing on the site. I found that several of the sites appears to be solid journalism with a Christian slant on choice of topics; another group of sites were clearly biased towards a particular theology in a way I find offensive but they clearly specified their bias so I have no problem with their articles. However, I found one site that article after article when I went to check the facts was flat out wrong ... yes, there were other website saying the same thing but in precisely the same words and the same lack of verifiability ... but easily disproven by checking the actual legislation or court ruling being reported on.
This concerns me because I cannot in good faith recommend a product from a company that spreads false propaganda ... if for no reason than my friends would never let me forget it if they found such an article attached to a product / company I recommended. And I'm sorry, I have many friends who would be Logos rather than Verbum users so I can't hide under the "we Catholics are separated from the garbage".
Rather than provoking a free-for-all over which news sources are appropriate, I would like to suggest that at least on the Homepage, one have the option to exclude particular news sources. Or as an alternative, Faithlife could provide a broader selection of Christian news sources and allow the user to specify which sites they wish to have included.
Please note that this request is not based on the theological bent of the news service nor on the political orientation of op ed pieces, it is based on flagrantly false reporting under the guise of "expose". I'm quite willing to let Faithlife/Logos promote a variety of theological and political beliefs.
