Bug (?) Reading Plan Visual Filter Defaults to Off

Are you opening the resource from the plan entry on the homepage, or from the Library?

Normally I first open the resource from the library to decide if I want to make a plan, then generate & start reading.

I just tried making a plan then opening it from the homepage. Same result--plan turned off in the visual filter menu.

Strange

It is - it seems - something that is reported from time to time (see https://community.logos.com/forums/t/118899.aspx for a discussion) but I don't remember seeing a resolution other than "it started working"

This problem persists across devices.

I recently installed Logos 6 on my tablet. Yesterday I created a reading plan on it, and again I had to go into visual filters to get the markers to show up in the resource. Once I had done that, when I opened the same resource on my desktop, they were set to on. But for some reason my account is defaulting to off, and I can't find any way to change that.

Admittedly it's a small nuisance, but it's a nuisance indeed.

I'm sorry you are having trouble with this. I'm having trouble reproducing this issue. Can you verify that you have Show in all appropriate resources selected?

Can you provide a screenshot of what your plan looks like? To clarify if you make a reading plan for the ESV is it not showing up there or are you expecting to show up in all of your Bibles and it's only showing up in the ESV and not other Bibles?

I made a test one for the ESV just now and it worked all right.

I use reading plans very frequently for non-Bible books. The problem is that after I make the plan, it doesn't get "turned on" in the resource. I have to manually select the option from that menu. There is no option for me to have it to default to "on". This is a (relatively) new problem/behavior; it used to be that whenever I made a reading plan, the "start reading" and "stop reading" bars would automatically show up in the resource.

Here you can see that just after the plan has been created and the reading for the day selected, it still hasn't been turned on in the resource itself.

It's a problem with your install.
It's a bug and we'll fix it (eventually).

In looking at your screenshot only one of the two boxes that need to be checked is turned on. If in addition to the specific reading plan you check the box highlighted below, does the plan show up?

Yes. This is what Logos did for me for many years. It stopped quite a long time ago. It's automatically turned to off unless I go into the resource and turn it on manually after creating the plan.

I also do not know how to turn them off globally, and it's certainly nothing I ever did.

I've had a chance to dig into Reading Plan behavior a bit more. The only way I was able to reproduce the behavior you are describing was to have disabled the parent Reading Plan Visual Filter in that resource at some point.

Here are the steps I followed:

Choose the option "Generate a Reading Plan" for the ESV.
Start the Reading Plan
Open the Bible from that Reading Plan.
Disable the parent Reading Plan Visual Filter.
Delete the Reading Plan.
Create a new plan using the option "Generate a Reading Plan" for the ESV.

When I reopened the Bible from the new Reading Plan, the Visual Filter was turned off. Also if you use one of our mobile apps and turn the parent setting off there, it will sync with the desktop. Is it possible outside of using the reading plan that this setting was disabled at some point in the resources where you see this behavior?

I don't know how many ways I have to say this. This happens not for some resources but for ALL resources. I did not change a setting; Logos changed a setting at some point.

First, unless I have created a Reading Plan, no options for "Reading Plan" show up under visual filters at all:

I didn't have this problem in the test I did for the ESV--perhaps because I had turned it back on manually at some point in the past (please note, this thread was started 7 months ago, and the problem started sometime before then).

Highly doubtful. Again, this happens with all resources. I usually read 2-3 books a month in Logos. It now happens with every single one. For every single one I have to go into the visual filters settings after I have created the Reading Plan and tick the box manually. It's inconvenient because (1) I didn't have to do this before and (2) if I don't remember to before I start, I can lose my place more easily.

I am having what sounds like the same problem. It has showed up sometime in the past 3 weeks.

I have to manually turn on the visual filter for ever reading plan (both old and new) and the entire reading plan section has defaulted to off in every resource.

Once I turn on reading plans in a given resource they seem to stay on, but it is rather irritating.

Anyway, I would appreciate any insight, especially if the Logos team has been able to help you.
