If you own the IVP OT and NT Bible Background Commentaries, that's pretty much all you need. This Study Bible seems like an "abridged" version of the commentaries.

I enjoy background info immensely. I own the ivp, zibbc, and the bkc background commentary so I'm guessing this would be overkill

Yep, you're right, I didn't see the authors. My bad :-) But if it's a concise version of (or pulling content from) the IVP volumes, I'd of thought IVP would publish this. Or that since this study bible is Zondervan, (and I guess if it were different editors), they'd pull content from the Zondervan background volumes.

Not sure how it works, I think there would be copyright issues. The material will be similar but not identical. Also the IVP volumes are quite old now, so the Zondervan volume is likely to have more recent scholarship
But the authors are the same!

I saw Dr. Keener stated in his facebook that he included much of his recent research on the New Testament to this study Bible apart from his IVP NT commentary.

Neat! I saw a preview of it yesterday and I compared one or two verses with the IVPBC. It seems they were somewhat similar but there were others that were rewritten and had different information so I'd be interested in getting the study notes if they ever come to Logos

Also it should be noted ebook version of this SB do exist so it would just be a matter of tagging it Logos style and seeing that they are swamped with L7 issues I doubt this will come soon
