Starting Fresh after the Belize Hurricane. Apple -not PC - oriented request for help.

In the days leading up to Hurricane Otto my home took a direct lightening hit and both my iPad and iMac got fried (even with surge protectors in place)!

The good news is that i have a clean slate and everything was backed up! The bad news is that Apple (I am locked into Apple for many reasons) is about to do a major revision to the top of the line iMac which I was planning to buy as soon as the next generation iMac came out in late 2016 or very early 2017. I was also planning to get the iPad Pro at the same time.

The primary purpose of the hardware is to run logos 6 and video editing.

i need help figuring out what to get until the next generation of iMac comes out. Right now I am reticent to put down what I think is a small fortune for a computer which will be not just a little out of date in two to four months. This might not be important for logos use but it will make a difference with video editing.

it doesn't seem like an iPad runs logos 6 very well. I can't seem to find anything which explains the specific shortcomings of the iPad Mobile app. i really would like to have all of the horsepower and functionality of logos 6 while I wait for Apple! I am going to seminary part time and need the works.

I guess I want my cake and to eat it too!

Is there a good solution other than to buy the soon to be out of date iMac? The MacBook doesn't have the big screen I need and want for editing.

Any thoughts? A good Windows tablet dedicated to Logos only....available at some great price??? Or??? I just need to bridge four or five months....

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Logos 6 doesn't run on iOS or Android mobile devices; it's a Desktop-only application. The Mobile apps are intended as companion apps for Logos 6 and not a replacement. They support a small subset of Desktop features. Please see https://www.logos.com/iphone for more information.

I'll let others answer your question about which Windows Tablet might be suitable at a good enough price point.

Thank you Kevin. Seems like it will be either wait and be happy with the iPad app or get a notebook or Windows laptop to use in the meantime. I forgot to mention that I do have an older iPad which seems to handle the app just fine. I wonder if a simple MacBook Air for under a thousand may be the best

If you are just looking to get by for a year, you could purchase a Windows laptop for well under $1000. Look on Newegg.com. You can get refurbished i5 laptops (an i5 is the sweet spot for power/price) for under $200, and you can get something new for under $500.

It depends upon your needs. What sort of tools / features do you use regularly? Have you tried a free trial of Logos now? I am not sure if that is still an option at this point or not, but it would be worth looking into. If it isn't available, you could ask us to perform some sort of task and we could provide screen shots.
