Just looking for some opinions. Thanks
The Life Application Bible Commentary
I have really liked most of the ones I have used in the NIV Application series. It's not available yet -- Under Development with a ship date of 4/5. 20 vol. for 249. Great deal - wish I had the $$. http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5459. Hafeman's commentary on 2 Corinthians in this series is excellent.
I agree the NIV Application Commentary is a good set of commentaries for many reasons, not just application.
In Christ,
Jim
You might also want to look at Jon Courson's Application Commentary. I have found it to be helpful at times. This is really three volumes: OT (Part i), OT (Part ii), and NT.
Blessings,
Floyd
Some other good ones are Wiersbe's various works. Like:
The Bible Exposition Commentary
and the "Be" Old Testament series
Another would be the MacArthur commentaries. While the set is very expositorial, and doctrinal, they are balanced with a good share of application.
I like MacArthur's NT Commentary Series (http://www.logos.com/products/details/5212). Also, Boice's Expositional Commentary (http://www.logos.com/products/details/2664)
I like Preaching the Word series by hughes, and though it isnt in Logos the Reformed Expository Commentary is really good. And Boice is pretty good most of the time as well when it come to application.
For application I like the following. . .
I have the NIV Application Commentaries. Some of them are very good--as has already been mentioned they are on Pre-pub. I hope that more of the OT commentaries will eventually make it to a digital format--e.g. Enns commentary on Exodus is very helpful.
Thanks for all of the suggestions, some of the resources I already have, so will start there.
