New Feature: Hebrew Grammatical Constructions

What is it?

This new dataset identifies grammatical constructions in the Old Testament and finds other occurrences of the construction in the Bible. Example: Find all the tripartite nominal clauses in the Hebrew OT.

How does it work?

This dataset labels all instances of tripartite nominal clauses, verbless clauses, root pairs, weak verbs, geminate verbs, I Alef verbs, 1 Guttural verbs, 1 Nun verbs, 1 Yod verbs, II Guttural verbs, Hollow verbs (Waw), Hollow verbs (Yod), III Guttural verbs, III Alef verbs, III He verbs.

The Hebrew Grammatical Constructions Documentation says that I should be able to search for weak verbs using {Section <GrammaticalConstructions weakverb>} in the Bible Search. This returns 0 results. Can anyone shed light on why this might be?

By chance I found a passage for this in ESV and the Context menu provided {Section <GrammaticalConstructions = Weak Verb>}; which suggests the documentation is incorrect for that and others like germinate.

The documentation is being updated with the new search strings. Somewhere between creating the initial documentation and implementing the data into the software the search strings were updated, and I didn't realize it.

The right side of the colon is the search term in the original documentation. The left side of the colon is the new search string which will be in the updated documentation, and which is currently implemented in the software.

As an ordinary non-technical user of the software, I will be at a loss for quite some time before being able to understand the terms being used in this thread let alone this new feature. Still, that's part of the joy of discovery and learning! Keep well Paul

Unfortunately, I was unable to get a search syntax that worked for gramcon dot weakverb. I tried:

{Section <gramcon.weakverb>}

{Section <GrammaticalConstructions = gramcon.weakverb>}

{Section <GrammaticalConstructions gramcon.weakverb>}

gramcon.weakverb

None of them worked.

While new features sound exciting, they quickly lose their lustre if they don't perform as expected. Perhaps you should hire Dave to work on documentation.

What Dave said and what Jimmy said match. From what jimmy said- it's the left side of the colon that works. The right side will not. Your examples of things not working are from the right side of the colon.

Right side (after ": gramcon.") matches "Hebrew Grammatical Constructions Documentation" that does not work.

Left Side preceding colon matches Right Click in resource; looking forward to documentation update.

Edit: Documentation Table of Contents has "s" added to clause and verb compared to GrammaticalConstructions search term. Noticed "Root Pairs" matches search term.

You are quite right. I misread the description.
