How do I report a problem on the forums?
The basics:
- the application you are running (should be implied by the forum you posted in)
- the operating system you are running (may be implied by the forum you posted in)
- the version of the application you are running (from about) is often helpful
For forum members/ Faithlife to look into it requires at least some of the following:
- screen shots showing the problem including any saved guide notice
- a description of the steps to recreate the problem
- logs of when the problem occurs
Occasionally a simple description of the problem is sufficient to research the problem. Sometimes, confirming that you can recreate a problem others have reported can help prioritize a problem or narrow the possible causes. But generally the more information you provide, the quicker the response and the better the answer.
Why doesn't the NA28 appear in my Exegetical Guide as it usually does?
My experience was that whenever the NA28 didn't appear, it was always because Verbum was pulling up the saved Exegetical Guide, even though I was running from a new, fresh guide, and not opening up the Guide Document.
Which tells me three things:
- There was probably a note at the top of the Guide telling you it had provided a saved guide
- That the used guide was created prior to the inclusion of NA28 apparatus
- That you did not refresh the guide or the section of the guide to include new information
Solution:
- Refresh the section from the Section Bar Menu OR
- Refresh the Guide from the Panel Menu OR
- Delete the Guide from the Guide Menu and recreate it
When do I use the {{bible-on}} {{bible-off}} field tag?
You need the Field in a Bible otherwise you can't see the Bibletext in the Textcomparison Tool. If you don't create it as "Bible" it does not work.
How do I search for everything Jesus has to say about money - my topic searches aren't working?
I only see Factbook articles for Thing Money and Thing Money box, but not a Topic.
There is a preaching theme of Money in Factbook, so this might be closer to what you are looking for.
{Speaker <Person Jesus>} WITHIN {Section <PreachingTheme Money>}
<Topic xxxx> implies a discussion, so Faithlife tag encyclopedias and bible concordances but not bibles. The Topic Guide provides a search:
<Topic Money> OR Money OR Budget OR Cash OR Currency OR Pieces OR Spending
and you will get results in ESV from the other terms. But a <Sense xxx> search will be better. Right click a result for Money in ESV, click SENSE on the right side and Search xxx on the left side. You will get <Sense money>, <Sense = wealth (Mammon)> as search terms.
To restrict the result to words spoken by Jesus, use
(<Sense money>, <Sense = wealth (Mammon)>) WITHIN {Speaker <Person Jesus>}
Compare this with results from
{Speaker <Person Jesus>} WITHIN {Section <PreachingTheme Money>}
How do I save multiple reading locations in a single book?
I would use Favorites. For books with page numbers, it remembers the page number. You could also use Bookmarks.
Learn more about Favorites at the Logos Wiki: https://wiki.logos.com/Favorites#What_are_Favorites.3f
And Bookmarks: https://wiki.logos.com/Bookmarks#What_are_Bookmarks.3f
Here's part of my current Favorites (note the Bookmarks are located at the bottom of Favorites, but I don't use them):

I would open the same resource in multiple panes. Then save your layout as you quit each time.
This will keep your progress independently saved in each pane as you progress.
How do I find prophecies of Messianic Kingdom among the minor prophets?
I find that Dr. Walvoord's Prophecy Knowledge Handbook is very helpful
How do I change in default Bible in the free Logos 6 app?
You need to set your "Preferred Bible"
On the homepage click on the gear icon (top right) and select "Choose Preferred Bible"

This creates a panel on the homepage allowing you to choose your preferred Bible - which will appear on hover and in other places

This is all to do with "prioritization" and for more details / finer control on this see https://wiki.logos.com/Prioritizing
Can I search for commands or imperative statements in the NT?
Yes, a morph search is what you want. Type @ will reveal the options. Choose Verb. Then choose "imperative".

Here is a screenshot of the search results.

Try this query {Section <PropositionalOutline = Command>} --> it will work if you have Propositional outlines in your resource's Visual filters menu.
How can I search for idioms?
Logos Now thread => Figures of Speech dataset shows verses having a Figure of Speech can be found.
This recent "How to identify idioms in the ESV and NASB" LogosTalk blog post is pretty cool.
Galatians 1:15 verse that has an idiomatic expression can be found using search:
{Label Figure of Speech WHERE Description ~ "Idiom" AND Name ~ "Idioma"}

Unfortunately, the Figure of Speech dataset does not have phrase granularity.
