www.logos.com is now up. Go shop.
And... It's down already - "504 Gateway Timeout"
Bums me out, both as a customer and as a web infrastructure guy.

Running slow for me but it is up.

No, not the sheep! *cries*

They are being slammed, no doubt. My question is how to buy just a book library (since I am a Logos Now member) versus buying a package that includes both books and Logos 7 features. Faith life said there would be an option for that, but I didn't see that on the website for the few minutes it was up. I didn't see the wishlist either...

Worst roll out ever. Website down and I have been on infinite telephone hold. Makes one wonder how good Logos 7 is if this is an example of their technical expertise.

Choose your preferred Library and you should get the dynamic price. Your Now membership automatically gives you L7 features.
Same ol' same ol'. Roll-out day failures. Website crashing. Live stream keeps hanging (It played ok for a while after rebooting roku, but now keeps freezing again at odd intervals.). Extremely frustrating. I know it has to be frustrating for Faithlife crew too, but I really wish we were past these types of hiccups.
The same issues as with the Logos 6 rollout yet again, it really does not fill you with confidence.
Fortunately, patience is the fourth fruit - if you can wait that long to get through the list :-P
Let's be honest, we're giving grief to a company that produces software that makes our lives significantly easier, and they've poured a ton of resources into this software to make it so we don't have to do nearly as much legwork. I think we can afford them a little grace.
Worst roll out ever.
Not even close! (Although I am frustrated that I can't get online). At least Logos Now users being able to download the newest engine right off the bat was great.
FWIW - I am twiddling my thumbs right now waiting to see what a new package might have for me!
We always hear excuses, but every time is the same issue.
Faithlife team simply doesn't want to learn from previous years mistakes.
EDIT: [Y] After seeing base packages, my grief is gone. Such a big candy store [*-)]
Anticipation ...

Agreed they have learnt nothing from Logos 6 launch experience and the numerous website failures. Who are they kidding when they think they can offer their software reliably as a cloud based solution?
On the bright side... I'm really encouraged that there are so many people deeply passionate about bible study that they/we are crashing the site! I know I work hard to see people passionate about the Word, and to see a company's website dedicated to do that overwhelmed is a silver lining to the inconvenience we're experiencing. I'm uninformed about the backend web stuff, so I got no say in whose to blame.
Granted, I am VERY eager to see base package content and really wish some basic info was available. Although, I still remember waiting 2.5 hours in line to ride the Little Mermaid Ride with my kids when it was newly opened at Disneyland in the blistering summer SoCal heat, and we loved all 120 seconds of that ride after of course, paying premium Disney admission fees. If I can survive that moment for that reward, maybe a website timeout isn't that bad for owning top-level bible study resources? [^o)]
Or maybe I'm just being too spiritual. [;)]

It's not just about a timeout it's about the company's ability to offer a reliable cloud based application solution under a heavy load.

Browsing other comments I can see how the concern translates over to a lack of confidence regarding the back-end of their server capabilities. I've not made the jump to Now and have never had an issue regarding Logos and their Cloud because everything is simply on my computer, ready to use locally.
Either way, it would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall in the prep meetings with the web guys anticipating this release. Is it an overwhelming surge of activity, were the preparations simply not robust enough, or was it a strange hiccup that created a domino effect that unleaded the 404 monster?
Having planned and run large events, I know the backstage story is always different from the one we see on the other side of the stage, so all this talk has got me curious.
Either way, I really want to see those Library Comparisons. The downtime does give me a chance to formulate a plan to convince my wife on why I need a new library...

Share you idea with some of us please. It will just be between us guys. [:D]

Lol, so far my list comprises of lots of back rubs, folding laundry and cleaning dishes, while trying to make quoting systematic theology sound as romantic as possible.
As I said on the other thread, the problem is that launches create 'once every two year' massive loads. It's prudent, and not too hard, to build a web site that's ready for a 2x, 3x, or even 10x load surge. It's hard to build a complex site that's always ready for a 40x-100x load increase -- like you get when you announce a release after two years. You can do it, but it costs a fortune in redundant hardware that isn't used the other days of the year.
This is a great argument for SaaS products. When you are upgrading constantly, and incrementally improving the product for a subscriber base, you don't get 100x load increases on a single day. We've been running Proclaim as a SaaS product for years, and offering many cloud-based services, including syncing documents since 2009. The whole system is very stable and has little downtime. We do get spikes -- Sunday morning always has much higher traffic on Proclaim's services and the mobile Bible app services -- but nothing that's 100x times the weekday load.
Big launches are fun (and tiring, and scary, and frustrating), but they are so far out of scale that they involve many surprises.
If you want to see more stability in your experience with Faithlife, subscribe to Logos Now and clamor for more cloud-based subscription products and fewer 'big launch day' releases.

If you can keep the price at around what it is now (small increments to offset inflation) this would be wonderful. How would you deal with Base packages? Most of your users like the huge discounts that are offered on Base packages with each launch.
Ah, but this time there were some really great surprises in the packages ... well worth the grief.
