When I open a file from my layout as a "floating window" I have not figured out how to return it to the layout without deleting it. I have tried the minimize, close, and x, and each time it deletes it from my layout. Thanks.
You need to Dock it. Right-click on it's tab, or press CTRL+SHIFT+F11.
