TL;DR why am I quoted $300 for the feature set when others are only quoted $170 or so?
I am wondering why the cost for Logos 7 feature set is so high for me ($299.05) when I have seen others (without Logos Now) quoting $170 or so. Is it because I never upgraded to Logos 6 (the last base package I bought was Logos 5 Reformed Platinum)?
That makes sense, I guess, say $170 for the Logos 6 features and $150 for the Logos 7 features. But I'm only asking because I have never before seen a company charge extra to people who missed a version of their product. To give a hypothetical example, if I bought Microsoft Word 2010, skipped 2012 and 2014, they would charge me the same for buying Microsoft Word 2016 as someone who bought all the intervening copies.
It just seems a strange business model, because pretty soon it's going to price me (and anyone else) out of ever buying Logos. If I don't buy any updates for 10 years, or someone first buys Logos when they're up to Logos 12, it's then going to be over $1000 just for the feature sets!
Some would say 'well just buy Logos Now'. That's fine, and I probably will, 2 years of Logos Now membership = $189.98 which is less than the cost of the feature set. But I am worried about the future. If, again, in 10 years, I wish to buy Logos 12 feature set to make sure I own them, I have spent ~$1000 on Logos Now plus I will have to pay the $1000 for the feature set.
All these hypotheticals are probably useless and clouding the issue. But perhaps someone can help explain why the discrepancy. Why are some of us charged $300+ just for the feature set, while others (without Logos Now) being charged much less?
