Funny, but I'm not sure why everyone thinks Logos is so expensive. Perhaps they should take a look at Amazon and see what all their favorite books are going for in paper. Logos is by far the best bang for your buck.

True and there are base packages that aren't expensive but there are packages that are especially as you get from Diamond up to Collectors. And in this economy you might as well take out a second mortgage for some of these packages(ok I'm kidding on taking out a second mortgage).
Looking at the satirical scenario, someone who has no previous Logos purchases and no other discounts (e.g. academic) would have to pay close to full list price for Collectors. With the current sale, that's still $9700 or so. Not quite a full second mortgage. Tapping out a HELOC*, maybe, but that wouldn't be as satirical as a second mortgage.
*Home Equity Line of Credit, for those not native to the U.S.. Basically, you can take a loan against the equity in your home, that is, against the positive difference between the value of your home and the balance owed on your mortgage. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like.

People think it's expensive primarily because, it is. One could compare it to what Logos cost in the beginning, or what similar people have spent in the past. And, I know the argument, "But, but, but, you get 15,000 books (number pulled from thin air, to make the point) and all kinds of "data sets. If you bought these 15,0000 books separately, they would cost more, so it's not expensive at all..."
That would be like saying that buying a 8,000 square foot house by the beach in California isn't expensive at 15 million dollars. After all, look at how much other 8,000 square foot houses are in other expensive areas, or how much it would cost to buy four 2,000 square foot houses at the beach... However, most people would say 15 mil is a lot to pay for a house.
Look at it this way:
I don't know of a single pastor, "back in the day," who went out and purchased 15,000 books, at the same time, for the wonderful price of $7,000 or any other cost, because they MIGHT be interested in using a lot of them during their carrier. Pastors purchased what they needed, when they needed it. But if they did buy that type of cache of books, one might think that the spending would be over. However, I bet you'd find by the people on this forum, that those who spend $7000 on a package don't stop spending. They keep buying further packages with more hundreds and thousands of books, and other "data sets."
There's another way to compare books, also. How many times have you bought a hard copy book, and then find yourself "needing" to buy different paper to read the ink, the letters, words, the content from, because it comes with new and different functionality? Again, I know the argument, that no one "needs" to buy new software each time. However, that's not the standard practice on this forum.
Don't get me wrong. I'm a capitalist. I love that Logos is providing people with what they like, what is useful to them, and and what they want to spend money on. I'm also a bit of a geek, who, if I could afford it, would love to own every new electronic gadget out there. I absolutely get it. However, I believe that we are kidding ourselves if we say it is not expensive.

When I graduated from college, my "home church" pastor recommended that my parents buy me a commentary set. The cost for the one set was nearly $2k. I now own that set and many more... at a fraction of the price.
Different people have different needs. I can't justify large Logos purchases anymore since I am not using it vocationally... but I did pick up L7 Silver & the Methodist Bronze. The academic and dynamic pricing helped. [;)]

Not that I know of. However, just to modify bits and pieces of a site, you only need one single button.
Depending on the browser, it might look different, but as far as I know it's always on the DOM explorer tab the first icon. It lets you select any website elements (text, images etc.) directly in the site. It looks like that:
You click on an element, and it shows you the location in the editor:
If you want to change text, you can just replace it directly in the editor. For images, you replace the entire URL. The replacement URL can come from any other web page, or, much easier, Google image search.
If you want to go a bit more advanced, you can select an element on a site, and in the editor use the right mouse button to delete, copy, and paste it at different locations on the site, though that's always a bit of try and error to get the result looking good.

I disagree. You are comparing digital books to paperback books. If I owned 15,000 paperback books, that would be a waste. I would never get much use from them. However, thanks to Logos software, I am able to utilize a much larger library effectively. I feel that my research and studying are richer and more productive - and it is hard to put a price tag on that.
