When starting courses, it would be nice to be able to specify a faster pace. Particularly for the "read through this book" courses, I would often want to read multiple sessions per day.

Would not "Study at my own pace" accomplish this?
Partly, which is what I'm doing. But then you lose the benefit of knowing if you're ahead/behind. I want the option of being able to read a fixed number of sessions per day.
If I want to get through a MobileEd course in a month, and have a schedule, I can't do that. I have to do it over the number of days the Faithlife set, which I find limiting.

Agreed. But they don't work well with 'normal' books — you tend to end sessions in fairly random places. Take Piper's "Life as Vapor", for example. If I create a two-week reading plan, I'll end up with breaks literally mid-sentence, like this:
Whereas the course at double-speed is much, much better.
