So.. Advice Please..

Am I right in thinking that if I go NOW , should Faithlife go out of business then I lose everything, as everything is online only?

Is there an aspect of offline use involved, as I understand it Now is 100% online, maybe cloud would be better for me.

I cannot justify upgrading to v7 as I don't want any of the resources offered even up to platinum level, just trying to be a good steward of my resources

No you are not right - most of what you have is is stored right there on your computer. There are a couple of resource heavy items that are on line and work through servers but that is all.

Do you really think that Faithlife would go out of business just like that? I am sure that anything less than a nuclear strike would allow for an orderly wind down. Somebody would be wanting all the 'Now' subscriptions. Of course once the Kingdom of Heaven is dimensionally joined to the Kingdom on earth our Logos program will be of historic interest only.

If you 'go NOW' then you go v7 its sort of included in the deal!

Logos Now is mainly about features rather than resources. Do you understand that difference? You can get the features with minimal resources that make them work either through a Logos Now membership or through purchasing the Full Feature Set.

Reinstall the local part from a backup in that event, with in theory expired subscription(and/or no access to server), would result in the local copy be severely crippled or unusable as it should find it isn't licenced for use, or did I miss something?.

Ok, not the best way of doing things but if you must then if competently done (you have all the files etc) then the software will know all your licences and will run fine until the subscription expires. (Less, of course, those features that rely on an active internet connection - that is a function of your internet not a restriction imposed by Faithlife - you know this is the case whenever you purchase/rent)

When the subscription does expire you will revert back to whatever features you actually own at the time. All your resources will be available, basic searching will be available (presumably for you it would be pretty much L6 as it is today). Only you can decided if the loss of function severely cripples the software for your use. I think that unless you are into deep analysis, or professional preparation you will probably get on just fine. If you want to use the software more intensively the option to re-subscribe is always there and (currently) 100 dollars will set you up for another year.

If Logos goes bust, and no-one buys up the remnants of the business, then we're all screwed, regardless of Logos Now.

Thankfully, the chances of that are very, very low. Even if Logos were to go bust (very unlikely), their customer base, datasets and technology are very valuable. Someone would buy them up and keep things going.

But even if that did happen, I'd be very confident that long before our licences started expiring, a group of us on the forums would work out how to hack Logos to backup and restore our licences, to ensure that at least we could continue to access our existing stuff.

Nothing is certain in this world, but Logos is the lowest risk of all the bible software companies, by a big margin.

Yeah, someone like Zondervan. Then we're gonna have reason to complain about pricing etc.
