The addition of /Lexham Geographic Commentary on the Gospels. Lexham Geographic Commentary/ reminded me yet again of how much I need this basic resource in Logos:

  • Legends of Jerusalem: The Sacred Land, Vol. 1 by Zev Vilnay
  • Legends of Judea and Samaria: Bethlehem, Hebron, Jericho, Dead Sea, Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Beersheba, Shechem, Sharon, Caesarea (The Sacred land: Vol. 2) by Zev Vilnay
  • Legends of Galilee, Jordon and Sinai (The Sacred Land: Vol. 3)  by Zev Vilnay

This set is essential to understanding the connotations of references to place.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

When my parents first took me on holiday to Israel I read Vilnay's The Guide to Israel.

It needs a lot more votes on Uservoice: Zev Vilnay's Legends series! Currently, it's only got 6, and 3 of those are mine...
