Custom Homepage Layouts

Can anyone help me with an issue I'm having with custom homepage layouts?  I've upgraded to Logos 7 and really enjoy the new features.  I've set up two custom homepage layouts -- one for my Bible reading plan and one for a Passage study.  The problem I'm seeing is that my custom layout only works when I have closed all resources in my workspace prior to clicking on my reading plan.  It seems like what's happening is that the "Send hyperlinks here" setting that I've set in my open workspaces takes priority over the layout I've set in my custom layouts.  If I haven't closed that panel prior to clicking on my Bible reading plan on the homepage, it just sends the Bible reading plan to that panel in my already open layout rather than opening it with the custom layout I've set up for Bible reading.  So is there a setting somewhere that would make the custom Bible reading plan layout supercede the "Send hyperlinks here" setting in an already open panel, or am I forced to make sure I don't have a "Send hyperlinks here" panel open before I can use a custom layout?  Am I making any sense?

The custom homepage layouts are only used if the workspace is currently blank

The Custom Homepage Layouts do, like the standard Homepage Layouts, assume a blank workspace. Otherwise they simply open the relevant resource.
