The value of Logos Now

Here's something I'm having trouble understanding.  About a week or so before Logos 7 was announced, I got an email telling me about the all-new Logos Now.  Intrigued, I checked it out again, and even called Faithlife to ask if that would be a good option for me, since I am only on Bronze.  I'd been keeping an eye on the Silver base package and hoping for a good sale so that I could upgrade.  The gentleman I spoke with told me that he didn't think that I would be able to get the best impact from LN because I was only on a Bronze library.  Instead, he suggested that I should upgrade to Silver, and he offered me the payment plan.  I asked him about how soon it might be until Logos 7 was released, even though I knew he couldn't answer my question, and of course, he didn't.

Well, fast forward a week to the announcement of L7.  The new base libraries are out, as well as the pricing for the full feature set.  So, buying the Bronze base library today gives you the full feature set that I would have gotten with LN (I realize that LN also has a few extras not included with the full feature set).

Here's what I don't understand:  if Faithlife employees didn't think the full feature set would be a good match with the Bronze library, then how is it a good match now?  That makes me wonder if this guy didn't really know what he was talking about.  I certainly hope he wasn't just trying to maximize his sales numbers by pushing me towards a package.

Now that the new Silver package has been effectively priced out of my budget, I'm again considering subscribing to Logos Now.  Will I be able to benefit from the new features with my existing Bronze library?  Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Bob

Before the release of Logos 7, Logos Now only included the features between Logos 6 and 7. Now, they have changed it up by raising the price and making it an annual offer only, but they have increased the value, because Logos Now now includes all feature sets up to the most recent ones. So, before L7 was released, Logos Now would have left an odd gap in your features, but no longer.

It sounds like the salesperson was either confused or wrong. Logos Now will work very well with your existing Bronze library or with almost any library, for that matter. Getting Logos Now will also reduce the cost of a Logos 7 Bronze or Silver library (which, by the way, contain some resources that are different from those in the corresponding Logos 6 Bronze and Silver). Just be aware that Logos Now is a subscription, so you will have to renew annually to keep all the Logos 7 features.

Justin, that would have been true before, but I was responding to the "all new" Logos Now that already included the Logos 7 features.  Granted, the new Logos Now feature set was only available for a week or so before the release of Logos 7, so perhaps the representative I spoke with was still used to thinking about LN in the way you described.

Why not 'suck it and see' Bob? Faithlife still operate their 30 day returns policy.

Find a slack(ish) thee weeks and give yourself an hour a day to play with the features.

If it isn't any fun send it back!

Thanks Mike, I may just do that!  I don't think they're offering the 30-day trial anymore.  In another thread, Bob said they really couldn't offer that anymore, because some people would use it get a discount on a library package, then cancel.  So, while that would be a nice option for me to check it out, I think I have to commit for at least a year, but that's what I would do anyway, to have enough time to really check everything out.

    Thanks for the input!

If you on a monthly Basis from LN (like me) you can do so till the End of the Year, than you have to become a Member. So, Monthly means you can cancel every Month = 30 Days

That's true if you're already a member, but monthly memberships are no longer for sale.  If I join now, I'll be an annual member, and there is no opportunity to cancel after 30 days.  As you said, at the end of the year, you will convert to annual as well.

I am not sure that that was what was actually said... It is a bit illogical.

Firstly they have records of all their customers - if folk have had discounts on the basis of Logos Now membership they can be offered either a refund on the whole shooting match and have all their licences (that were consequent on the Logos Now membership cancelled) or they can have the Logos Now fee reduced by the amount of the discount obtained.

Secondly - even with the discounts I doubt that Faithlife is actually making a loss on the transactions - so even if some (I imagine a few) very sinful folk who wanted to study the bible did slip through the net it shouldn't impact the bottom line over much.

I would think that those who would try it on would be the type of customer that it is worth offending to be rid of the support costs.

Bob, if you look at all that Logos Now gives you the benefit are much more than the cost to you.

free month access to try some resources, discount of 50% on most if you want to add them to the library. We just got a $10.00 gift also an added 5% discount on upgrading to Logos 7.

With the Logos Now you only need to upgrade with the Library if you want more books because you have the datasets and features with Now.
