The advantage over it simply being on sale is that you can preview this book for free, then decide to buy it at a 40% discount if you want to own it once the month is up.

I get emails for pretty much every freebie I ever see mentioned on the forums (although sometimes only after I've seen the freebie because of the forums)--perhaps you need to tweak which email lists you're signed up for.
